Prayers for the family during the summer break
OCTOBER MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY:
Why do we pray the Rosary in October.
Many of the feasts between mid September and the First Sunday in Advent make reference to conflicts between Christianity and Islam. Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7th ) is credited with victory in a number of battles, The Battle of Lepanto (1571) in which a Christian fleet defeated a superior Ottoman fleet and stopped the onward westward expansion of Islam in the Mediterranean
In honour of this victory, Pope Pius V instituted the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. In 1883 Pope Leo XIII officially dedicated the month of October to the Holy Rosary.
The best way to celebrate the Month Of October is to pray the rosary daily. Through the Rosary we draw closer to Jesus and Mary by meditating on the great mysteries of our salvation.
