Mathematics

Mathematics is a creative and highly inter-connected discipline that has been developed over centuries. It is essential for everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A high quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically and an appreciation of mathematics.

Our students achieve outstandingly well at all Key Stages and our results are significantly above the National Average.

Here at St George’s Mathematics Department we always go the extra mile for your child;

* Reward trips for those who show dedication and progress in the subject

* Homework club

* Revision sessions during holidays for exam classes

* After school and Saturday revision sessions for exam classes

There are many opportunities for our students in the Mathematics Department. For those who find it more of a struggle to learn in mathematics we have intervention club one morning a week. Those students who are more gifted at mathematics can participate in additional programmes to suit their needs.

In academic year 2016/17 selected Year 9 students attended The Royal Institute on Saturday mornings for a series of workshops led by experts from industry, academia and education which offered students in-depth investigations of topics.

With over 650 applications we secured places for some Year 10 and 11 students who attend the GCSE Enrichment Programme at Kings College which is one of two specialised Mathematics Schools.
